He is an associate professor and associate dean of the Professional Masters in Economics program at Insper.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economic Sciences from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1994), a master’s degree in Economics from the Getulio Vargas Foundation of Rio de Janeiro (FGV-RJ) (1996) and a doctorate in Economics from FGV-RJ (2001). He was also a scholarship student at the University of Chicago (1998-1999) and completed a post-doctorate at Columbia University (2007-2008).
With experience in Finance and Macroeconomics, he conducts research in the fields of Monetary Economics and Empirical Finance, focusing mainly on the following topics: monetary policy, asset pricing, savings decisions and portfolio management.
His works have been published in Brazilian and international academic journals, such as Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, Journal of Development Economics and Revista Brasileira de Economia. He is a three-time recipient (2010, 2006 and 2005) of Insper’s George Stigler Award for Excellence in Research and also received the Adriano Romariz award from the Brazilian Society of Econometrics in 2004. He is also a reviser of various academic journals in both Brazil and abroad.
He currently teaches the courses Fundamentals of Macroeconomics (undergraduate) and Finance (master’s).
