We created the International Advisory Board, which counts on the participation of prominent foreign scholars with experience in the best business schools in the world and aims to guide and evaluate our projects. The creation of the International Advisory Board strengthens our internalization strategy, under the guidance of specialists from countries that are role models in education.
The group’s first face-to-face meeting took place in October, and it discussed our plans for the coming years, our structure, and how we have made progress in internationalization. Led by Michael Perlman (Chairman), who is also a member of our Board of Directors, the International Advisory Board counts on the participation of seven other members with academic experience in countries such as Chile, the United States, Israel, New Zealand, Portugal, the United Kingdom, and Venezuela. The terms of office are for three years.
MEMBERS OF THE INTERNATIONAL ADVISORY BOARD
He is a director on the boards of Insper, Digipix, Ideal Invest and Tel Aviv University. He is a member of the Global Advisory Council of London Business School, a Fellow Commoner of Christ’s College at Cambridge and vice-chairman of the board of IBMEC Educacional.
His other activities include: director on the board of Hospital Albert Einstein since 1974; and a member of its Board of Auditors since 1992; director on the board of the Museum of Modern Art of São Paulo; member of the Superior Board of the Jockey Club of São Paulo.
He was born in São Paulo in 1947. He studied through high school in São Paulo; B.A. from Christ’s College, Cambridge University (1968); MSc (Economics) from London Business School (1970); M.A. from Cambridge University (1972); Honorary Fellow at Tel Aviv University (1990).
ALFONSO GOMEZ MORALES
Extended professional career focused on innovation and strategic management. He graduated as a Civil Engineer at the Catholic University in Santiago and earned his Ph.D. and Master of Design at the Royal College of Art in London, U.K.
He was formerly Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Dean of the Business School at Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez. Under his leadership, the school of business was ranked Nº1 in Latin America by America Economia´s prestigious ranking.
He served as board member of Chile’s National Innovation Council, the National Council for Culture and the Arts, InnovaChile and of the Ministry of Economics’ Council for Small and Medium Size Companies.
He founded several companies including Apple in Chile, Virtualia (first Latin American social network, the year 2000) and has extensive experience as board member in large companies.
Dominic brings a unique mix of theory, practical experience, and insight to his work. He is Adjunct Professor in Strategic and Entrepreneurial Management at London Business School. Previously, he worked for The Boston Consulting Group and held senior leadership positions in the corporate world.
At London Business School, Dominic was Associate Dean of the School’s flagship Sloan Fellowship Programme. He continues to be closely involved in the programme, which attracts highly successful, senior professionals at turning points in their careers and lives, and he is a repeated winner of the Sloan Fellows’ “Best Teacher” award. He is Academic Director for the School’s Global Business Consortium for senior managers – from Oracle, Emirates, GEA, DP World, BUPA and Mars – who are moving into key leadership positions. As lead Faculty, Dominic also directs London Business School’s open Executive Education programme “Executing Strategy for Results.”
Dominic overseas the Board of his family’s business interests in Latin America. In the non-profit arena, Dominic is a Trustee of the Clore Social Leadership Foundation, a Governor of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution and a Trustee of the Karuna Trust.
He has an MA in History from Cambridge University an MBA from Stanford Business School and a Master’s Degree in Philosophy (with Distinction) from Buckingham University, where he studied under Sir Roger Scruton. His home is in Scotland, where — alongside his academic and client commitments — he is a crofter on the Isle of Skye.
GARY A. GIAMARTINO
Gary A. Giamartino, Ph.D. in social and organizational psychology from Vanderbilt University, established Giamartino Consulting Leadership & Executive Development in December 2016 to help organizations enhance leadership and executive development to meet rapidly changing business challenges.
Specializing in firms that are going through transitions (including but not limited to leadership successions, generational transfer of leadership in family firms, changes in strategic direction or product portfolio mixes), he has coached leaders to help enhance their skills and to diagnose and shape organizational culture.
He also has extensive experience in coaching entrepreneurs in the start-up and growth stages of business. He currently serves as a volunteer mentor to two healthcare start-up companies in the Student Innovation Incubator at the University of South Florida. Dr. Giamartino has direct experience in the food, healthcare, manufacturing, and retail sectors, as well as in government and higher education organizations.
Dr. Giamartino served as Dean and Professor of Management and Leadership of the School of Business at La Salle University in Philadelphia, PA, from 2013 – 2016 and as Dean of the School of Business at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Dean of the University of Detroit Mercy College of Business, and as a faculty member at St. Joseph’s University, the College of Charleston, and The Citadel. While at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, he served two years as Interim Vice Chancellor for University Relations and CEO of the SIUE Foundation.
Throughout Dr. Giamartino’s career in higher education, he has been considered a global leader in business education. His work in the United Kingdom, France, United Arab Emirates, and Brazil has led to many of the world’s finest business programs achieving AACSB accreditation under his mentorship and guidance. As an AACSB accreditation team member and leader, he led visits to top business schools in the United States, South America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
IAN O. WILLIAMSON
Ian O. Williamson is the Pro-Vice Chancellor and Dean of the Business School at Victoria University, Wellington (New Zealand). Prior to joining Victoria University, he served on the faculties of the Melbourne Business School (Australia), Rutgers Business School (USA), the Zurich Institute of Business Education (Switzerland), the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland and Institut Teknologi Bandung (Indonesia). He received his Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (USA) and a bachelor’s degree in business from Miami University (Oxford, Ohio USA).
Prof. Williamson’s expertise is in the development of effective organizational and community outcomes “talent pipelines”. Prof. Williamson’s research has been published in several leading international academic journals and has been covered by media outlets across the world. Williamson has worked with executives in over 20 countries across six continents helping organizations understand how human and social capital influences firm operational and financial outcomes, talent management in the context of new ventures and growth-oriented firms, diversity management, the role of human resource practices in driving firm innovation and the impact of social issues on firm outcomes.
JOÃO AMARO DE MATOS
João Amaro de Matos is Vice Rector of Nova University, Lisbon, having joined Nova School of Business and Economics in 1995, where he has been Associate Dean for International Development (2005-2017) and Director of the PhD Programs.
He worked for the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) as an expert for the internationalization of Cuban Universities, was a member of the International Board of the Strasbourg Business School, and was a member of the Executive Board (2007-2017) of the Community of European Management Schools (CEMS), chairing its Research and Doctoral Education Committee (2008-2012) and its Quality Assessment Committee (2015-2017).
He holds a PhD in Management (1995) from INSEAD and a PhD in Physics (1988) from São Paulo University. He was a visiting scholar at Heidelberg University (1988-89), at the London School of Economics (2002), and at the MIT (2012). He teaches Corporate Finance, Investments, Derivatives, Risk Management and Continuous-Time Finance at all levels. Additionally, João Amaro de Matos has taught in various European and Brazilian schools such as INSEAD, HEC Geneva, INSPER and Getulio Vargas Foundation.
He is the author of the textbook “Theoretical Foundations of Corporate Finance”, (Princeton University Press, 2001), and also of “Sustainability and Organizational Change Management”, (Routledge, 2015). He wrote more than 50 scientific works among books, chapters, papers, and conference proceedings.
His research has been published in journals such as the Journal of Econometrics, European Journal of Finance, Mathematical Finance, Journal of Statistical Physics and Physica A, among others. João Amaro de Matos has participated in numerous conferences and seminars and has supervised many MSc and PhD thesis in the area of Finance and Economics. He has founded and organized since 2007 the annual Luso-Brazilian Finance Meetings.
MARÍA HELENA JAÉN
Professor Jaén served as a Distinguished Chair Professor at the Universidad de Los Andes School of Management, Bogota, Colombia between 2016 and 2019. Previously Professor, Dean, and Vice President of IESA, Venezuela (2001-2016), and Visiting Scholar at the HBS and Harvard University’s DRCLAS (2012-2013). Former CLADEA´s President (2013-2014), Social Enterprise Knowledge Network (SEKN) General Coordinator (2014-2016), and founder of the CLADEA-BALAS Case Consortium (CBCC)/Harvard Business Publishing.
Member of the AACSB International, Latin American and Caribbean Advisory Council (2015-2018) and of the AACSB BizEd Magazine Advisory Committee since October 2017. Participated in the Executive Committee of the Business Association of Latin American Studies (BALAS) (2012-2019), in the International Advisory Board of the Universidad de Los Andes (Bogota), School of Management´s International Advisory Board (2013–2015), and in the The Audencia Group International Advisory Board (2014-2016).
Her teaching and research focus on responsible leadership, corporate social responsibility, social inclusion and sustainability, business ethics, change management, and management education. Author and collaborator in peer-review articles, books, and teaching cases for SEKN, CBCC, and the Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Cleaner Production, Management Decision, Academia-ARLA, and Debates IESA.
Before pursuing an academic career, she was an international consultant for multilateral organizations such as the World Bank, PAHO, USAID, UNDP, and UNICEF for 16 years.
MOSHE ZVIRAN is Dean of the Coller School of Management, where he is also a Professor of Information technology. He is the incumbent of the Isaac Gilinsky Chair of Entrepreneurship, Technology, Innovation and Management. He also serves as the academic director of the Eli Hurvitz Institute for Strategic Management and the Coller Institute of Venture. He received his B.Sc. degree in mathematics and computer science and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in information systems, all from Tel Aviv University, Israel.
He held academic positions at the Naval Postgraduate School, California, the Claremont Graduate University, California, and Ben-Gurion University, Israel. His research interests include entrepreneurship and innovation, information and cyber security and information systems planning and policy. Prof. Zviran has published numerous articles in leading academic journals and authored two books in information systems. He is also a consultant for leading organizations in Israel and serves as a board member in several companies and organizations.
