Insper maintains more than 100 international agreements with the aim of offering the Insper community diverse opportunities for development and international experience, whether through mobility or local activities. And one of the most traditional partnerships is with the University of St. Gallen, a Swiss school of Business, Economics, Law, Social Sciences, International Affairs and Computer Science.

“St. Gallen is an elite institution, one of the most prestigious universities in Switzerland. The training areas for which it is known are similar to those for which Insper is known”, says Professor Ivar Hartmann. Recently, cooperation between the two institutions was revised, in order to expand the scope of students’ activities — four per year, two per semester, are selected to participate in this academic exchange in Switzerland, with all costs funded by the Lemann Foundation.

Priority in selection

“In addition to academic activities, students will participate in research, networking, and side events. In this review of the partnership, a series of activities were included,” says Hartmann.

In other words, the new Digital Policy Leadership Program (DPLP) signed between the institutions is a program that connects undergraduate students from Insper and the University of St. Gallen with research and networking activities within the theme of digital policy, during one semester of exchange, with the aim of training leaders.

Two students will go to Switzerland in the second half of this year. “We will give priority to scholarship students and self-declared black and indigenous people. This is a demand from Insper, the Lemann Foundation and St Gallen University,” informs the professor.

While the selection process is underway, it is important that candidates have three documents ready: the motivation letter, the English proficiency test, and the letter of recommendation from an Insper professor.

Growth opportunity

To participate in the selection process, the candidate must be duly enrolled in one of Insper’s undergraduate courses throughout the selection process and the program period.

The student also needs to qualify to apply for an exchange semester according to the recurring rules and in accordance with the requirements and specificities of each degree and, additionally, have one semester left to study at Insper after returning from the exchange program. In addition, the student must comply with his/her financial obligations to Insper throughout the period of preparation and implementation of the program.

The partnership is open to students from all undergraduate courses, including Law, Business Administration, Economics, Computer Science and Engineering. “The Lemann Foundation makes the program possible, with funds that cover airfare, accommodation and even the visa fee, both for the four students who go to Switzerland per year, and for the four who come from St. Gallen to spend a semester at Insper,” informs Hartmann.

International experience is a valuable differentiator for one’s CV, professional career, and personal journey, says the professor. “Especially now, in the new format, which involves greater participation in Swiss university activities, this is a valuable opportunity.”
