On September, Insper signed the renewal of its most traditional partnerships. On a ceremony with presence of Daniel Traça, Dean of NOVA School of Business and Economics, from NOVA University Lisbon, and Victoria Winter, NOVA’s International relationships director, both institutions renewed the cooperation agreement and reinstated their interest to stimulate cooperation among their students and teachers.
“This partnership raises from the identification of common objectives and as we see the opportunity to generate value for both institutions”, says Irineu Gianesi, Insper’s Academic Affairs director, who joined agreement’s renewal signature.
Actually, Economics and Business Management students from both universities have opportunities such as double professional master’s degree and double progressive undergraduation. In the first case, students can obtain master’s degree diplomas from both institutions by splitting studies between them. On the second one, Insper’s undergraduation students can attend to their fourth year on NOVA Lisbon, followed by a supplementary year. Therefore, in five Years, they can complete undergraduate at Insper and master’s degree on NOVA Lisbon at the same time.
Insper’s students have also the opportunity of obtaining scholarships to study at NOVA Lisbon thanks to the support from Haddad Foundation. “For the students, in addition to the development of competences for international and global performance, this partnership facilitates an eventual insertion on the labor market at a reciprocal, either in Portugal or in Brazil”, highlights Gianesi.
In addition, from 3 to 4 students from Insper’s MBA join the annual Brazil Lab, a project with students from Lisbon MBA, a program from NOVA Lisbon in a joint venture with Catolica-Lisbon School of Business and Economics and in cooperation with MIT Sloan School of Management.
Through this initiative, students from both MBAs visit both countries and, together, run a consulting project for a Portuguese company which has business in Brazil. “The program provides students with practical experience to deal with real problems at a cross-cultural environment”, says Gianesi.
Idea for the future is to keep expanding the partnership between both institutions with other projects, especially involving Insper’s Innovation Hub and NOVA Lisbon Entrepreneurship Center and in areas such as management and public policies. “Agreement renewal reinforces this mutual interest to keep collaborating and to increase collaboration activities”, states Gianesi.
