Dr. Tanya Filer leads the Digital State project at the Bennett Institute for Public Policy at the University of Cambridge where her research and postgraduate teaching focus on improving the capacities of governments to engage, develop, and govern the use of digital and emerging technologies. She is also Founder and Director of StateUp, an insights and advisory firm focused on digital innovation with public purpose, and has worked with governments, international organisations, and start-ups in Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East. Tanya has published widely on public sector innovation and digitalisation and teaches on the MPhil in Public Policy and other postgraduate programmes at Cambridge. She sits on the Steering Committee of Cambridge’s Trust and Technology Initiative and the Advisory Board of the Information Law and Policy Centre, University of London and previously served on the Council on the Future of Information and Entertainment at the World Economic Forum. Tanya has been a British Council fellow in Cyber (2018), a Frank Knox Fellow at Harvard University, and a Collaborative Exchange Scholar at Yale.
