With a diverse curriculum, we encompass both technical and business competencies.   "In addition to technical skills, the data scientist must know how to interpret and communicate results and guide leaders in making important business decisions. The professional needs to be proactive, with the autonomy to even propose solutions. There is no longer room in the market for those who only do what is asked," emphasizes researcher and professor Hedibert Freitas Lopes.   The program combines the advantages of both in-person and hybrid formats and counts on the support of partner companies, allowing for an experience that is closer to the market reality already during graduate studies.   With a duration of 18 months, the program qualifies the student to:   Support companies and organizations in decision-making through the use of statistical models that clarify a specific issue or highlight a business opportunity and the associated uncertainties; Extract, organize, and combine data, whether structured or unstructured, numerical or textual, for statistical modeling of the problem or business opportunity; Develop data processing systems (including large scale) that enable the analysis of statistical models applied to data related to the subject in question; Use design techniques in the formulation of business problems or opportunities and in creating possible solutions, interacting assertively with stakeholders.  "},{"titleItem":"Insper experience"},{"text":"The Advantages of the Hybrid Format   The hybrid format of the graduate program in Data Science and Decision allows students to follow 2/3 of the program remotely. The virtual classes are conducted through a platform that enables live interaction between professors and students, without any disadvantage compared to in-person classes, while also allowing students to better organize themselves for the classes.   On the other hand, the in-person classes (which occur one weekend per month) bring the advantages of real interaction with professors and colleagues and allow for the creation of a lifelong network.   Market-Used Technology   Throughout the program, students have access to cloud infrastructure provided by the school to develop their activities in an appropriate computational environment.   The technological resources — mentimeter, kahoot, socrative, miro, google colab, among others — used in the classroom are those utilized in the market, allowing for an experience closer to professional reality.   The use of R and Python languages is useful for a wide range of applications, such as initial exploratory data analysis, use of complex statistical models, results visualization, handling large volumes of data, and deployment of algorithms in production.   Two Professors in the Classroom   To support the learning process, the content is delivered by a professor accompanied by a teaching assistant. Students will also have tutoring sessions with teaching assistants available to resolve doubts about exercises and projects.   Immersion in Solving Real Organizational Problems   The program focuses on practical activities to employ data science concepts and techniques. To reinforce this method, in the last module of the program, students choose a company with a real problem to propose innovative solutions.   User-Centered Design   The program simultaneously develops design competencies applied to data science, facilitating interaction with the business in identifying problems and allowing for the creation of solutions to be shared with executives for decision-making.   Extra-course experience   The students will participate in workshops and themed clinics to delve into specific topics.
