Webinar

The panel will debate the interplay between competition law, artificial intelligence, and data protection, through a discussion between academics, lawyers, and regulators from these three fields. Thus, will be discussed the risks that algorithms and big data can present to the competition, especially regarding collusion induction and price uniformity.

The webinar will be fully conducted in English and will not feature simultaneous translation Portuguese / English.

Insper Webinars – Insper believes that quality information based on evidence is essential to decision-making and to face the challenges posed by the surge of the new Coronavirus. In this sense, the school has been promoting a series of online events, for free, to disseminate relevant content. They cover topics such as economic overview, labor aspects, legal tools applicable, challenges for the startups, leadership and management of remote teams, management of the working capital in times of crisis, impacts on supply chains, and coronavirus’ impacts on family businesses.

Juliano Maranhão

Professor of Law Theory at São Paulo University – USP and Member of Executive Committee of the International Association for Artificial Intelligence and Law – IAAIL.

Laura Zoboli

Laura Zoboli is Assistant Professor of European Economic Law at the University of Warsaw and Scientific Coordinator of the Centre for Antitrust and Regulatory Studies (CARS). Laura obtained her PhD in International Law and Economics at Bocconi University, where she currently is an Adjunct Professor.

Paula Farani

CADE Comissioner. Professor of Law and Economics at the Brazilian Institute of Public Law (IDP). LLM in International Economic Law at Georgetown University Law Center/USA.

Paulo Furquim

Paulo is Full Professor at Insper Institute and director of the Center for Regulation and Democracy. He holds a PhD in Economics at the University of São Paulo (USP) and was Visiting Professor at MIT, Visiting Scholar at the University of California at Berkeley and Commissioner at the Brazilian competition authority (Cade), from 2006 to 2009.

Vinícius Klein

Professor of Law and Economics at Paraná Federal University-UFPR. Paraná State Solicitor. Phd in Civil Law from Rio de Janeiro State University and Phd. In Economic Development at UFPR. Visiting Scholar at Columbia University in 2012.
