Insper was present at the annual international conference of the Association for Consumer Research (ACR), held in Paris from September 26 to 29, 2024. The event, one of the most prestigious in the field of consumer behavior research, brought together about 1,500 researchers from different countries, providing an important space for sharing innovations and studies in the area of marketing.
Professors Giuliana Isabella and Maura Ferreira represented Insper at the conference, presenting an ongoing research study in the area of sensory marketing. The study investigates the influence of touch and vision on the consumption of junk food (unhealthy foods with low nutritional value).
Professors Giuliana and Maura also took the opportunity to present the ACR Latin America 2025 at the event, showcasing a video about São Paulo, Insper, and the event (available at this link). The regional event, which takes place on average every four years, will be held at Insper in São Paulo, from June 25 to 27, 2025.
With the theme "Human Touch: Promoting Consumer and Societal Well-being," the conference promises to be an important milestone for discussing consumer behavior in the Latin American context. "The event will be an opportunity to connect highly qualified students in South America to discuss various consumer behavior topics, seeking contributions for businesses, government, and society," highlights the organization, which includes professors Giuliana and Maura.
The ACR Latin America 2025 intends to offer some sessions in a hybrid format, with special virtual sessions aimed at doctoral students and researchers who cannot be present in São Paulo. This initiative aims to promote greater inclusion and reach, allowing the participation of academics from different geographical and cultural backgrounds.
The event program will include lectures with editors of important scientific journals in the field, workshops, special sessions, and meetings focused on the integration among researchers. A special highlight will be given to the participation of representatives from large companies in Latin America, who will contribute their practical perspectives to the discussions.
Researchers from all over the world will be able to submit research projects to be discussed at the event. However, there is an opening for special sessions related to the main themes of the event, such as access to essential services, artificial intelligence and technology for the common good, digital inclusion, financial literacy, food consumption and healthy lifestyle, pro-social and sustainable behaviors, as well as issues related to consumer resilience, adaptability, and mental health.
Those interested in participating in the event can submit papers in the competitive paper and working paper categories until January 25, 2025. The conference is scheduled to start on June 25 with plenary sessions, a doctoral symposium, and workshops, followed by two days of research presentations and academic activities. All activities will be conducted in English, facilitating the participation of international researchers and promoting a global collaboration environment.
