Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a global leader in IT services, consulting, and business solutions, has signed a partnership agreement with Insper to expand innovation fronts in the country through collaborative actions in academic research and innovation. With a duration of 10 years, the project will stimulate the development of prototypes that can be tested and implemented on a large scale, leveraging emerging technologies such as AI, robotics, IoT, spatial computing, and others. In the end, the idea is that clients in Brazil and South America will have access to innovations more quickly and efficiently, accelerating their transformation journeys.

TCS and Insper will explore the research and innovation front to promote the application of new technologies in problem-solving and new product development. Some of the economic sectors that will benefit are banking, financial services and insurance, energy and resources, manufacturing, healthcare and life sciences, retail, and consumer goods.

The academic research front aims to help solve common business problems among companies. Some examples of investigations are satellite-based geo-sensing to improve crop productivity in Brazil, reducing downtime on offshore oil platforms, and the new process of drug development accelerated by AI.

According to Bruno Rocha, country head of TCS Brazil, the common idea between the two institutions is to establish a bridge with the market to more effectively serve companies of different profiles. “This partnership will allow us to access academic expertise, to collaborate with the business and engineering capabilities that Insper possesses, and to build a collaborative space for our clients, aiming at business, environmental, and social changes in Brazil through our clients,” he said.

“The collaboration with TCS reinforces Insper's mission to promote Brazil's transformation through innovation. The development of engineering and computing projects has been one of the institution's pillars in recent years, and this partnership will put us at the forefront of developing solutions for real company problems, as well as offering new learning opportunities and experiences for our students,” said Rodrigo Amantea, head of the Paulo Cunha Innovation and Entrepreneurship Hub at Insper.

The partnership will also help companies establish innovative collaborations, integrating physical assets, partner technologies, and client challenges to create new offerings and solutions. This type of collaboration will include academic research work, technology prototype development, and organizing seminars, hackathons, and tech talks using the TCS Pace methodology for innovation at scale.
