The program's curriculum itself is reviewed at least every two years.  Evidence-based prognosis and solutions: the program equips the student to support decision-making through the "scientific method."  In addition to these assumptions, throughout the program, research lines in the areas of Finance, Microeconomics, and Macroeconomics are explored. And most importantly: the student does not need to enter with a defined idea of the theme they will follow. Only at the end of the third quarter does the student begin to choose the research tracks in which they intend to specialize to develop their thesis.    Another important characteristic is that, unlike MBA programs in the field, the M.Sc. in Economics does not focus on people management. The idea is for the professional to enhance their applied knowledge to conduct sophisticated analysis, whether in the area of macroeconomic perspective, competition consequences analysis, or public policy evaluation, among other possibilities. And the M.Sc. degree also allows them to start a career as a professor. "},{"titleItem":"Insper experience"},{"text":"Why pursue the M.Sc. in Economics at Insper?  Student-centered learning: our methodology favors the approach to real problems, often related to each master's student’s professional experience, which allows for a rich exchange of experiences and perspectives. This helps break down barriers and promote the integration of different functional areas and market segments;  Constant updating: the M.Sc. in Economics has a very updated curriculum, which is reviewed at least every two years. In addition, our professors always seek to address current economic cases and topics in the classroom.  National recognition: in all its evaluations, the excellence of the program was accredited with the highest score (5) granted by Capes/Ministry of Education;  Research: the faculty develops research and applied projects for companies and public policy makers. There are knowledge centers in Leadership and Innovation, Finance, Public Policy, Business Studies, and Entrepreneurship;  Faculty with academic robustness and practical sense: all the professors of the program have a Ph.D. from prestigious schools, both national and international, and have solid competencies in the areas of finance and economics;  Dual degree (subject to availability): M.Sc. students have the possibility to take the second year of the program at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, in Portugal, to obtain a M.Sc. degree in Economics recognized in the European Union;  Balance between academic research and the reality of the practical world: students complete the M.Sc. in Economics program with a worldview very close to reality and a relevant research capacity;  Be part of the Alumni Community: the relationship with Insper continues after the completion of the master's degree through this community, which offers discounts for taking new programs, invitations to debates, access to the Telles Library collection, and the Career Center Opportunity Panel, among other benefits. "},{"titleItem":"Profile"},{"text":"The M.Sc. in Economics is recommended for graduates from different fields who want to deepen their practical knowledge in Finance, Macroeconomics, and Microeconomics to contribute with assertive analyses, guidelines, and tools in the companies they work for.    In addition to an undergraduate diploma in a higher education program, the candidate for the M.Sc. in Economics must have time to dedicate to studies (around three extra hours for each hour in the classroom); well-developed logical and quantitative reasoning; a propensity to enjoy mathematics, calculus, and quantitative analyses; and proficiency in reading in English.    Professional experience is not a determining factor but is desirable and can be in any area (such as Financial Market, Business, Consulting, etc.). "},{"titleItem":"Program structure"},{"text":"The program has a workload of 750 hours (550 hours of classes + 200 hours of TA) and a duration of 2 years.
