The three fields comprehend a series of core courses on theoretical foundations and empirical methodology, as well as a wide range of upper level courses that bring our students to the frontier of research in each field.   Even though there are no similar graduate programs in Brazil, this model is by now a reality abroad, where it is commonplace to have economics departments within business schools where researchers work in a variety of fields that are of interest to both economists and management scientists, such as Industrial Organization, International Trade,  Contract Theory, Finance, among others.   Similarly, there are international management courses that have increasingly incorporated economic ideas and methods. There is, for example, a rapidly expanding movement of economics literature that seeks to measure and evaluate the management practices of firms and their impact on productivity.   In addition to the innovative format, this multi and interdisciplinary proposal favors the internationalization of our doctoral program. Therefore, all classes are taught in English and the faculty itself is made up of professors with international experience, which facilitates the admission of foreign students, while also enabling our students to access renowned schools on five continents.   The idea is that this internationalization and diversity contribute to the development of other research systems and bring a new outlook to the solution of local problems, whether under a macroeconomic perspective, or for the analysis of consequences of competition or, even, of public policy evaluation, among other possibilities.   Our Doctoral Program in Business Economics has a workload of 1,512 hours and a duration of 4 to 5 years. Check the date and times of the next class, get to know the [application process](/content/insper-portal/en/cursos/pos-graduacao/doutorado/processo-seletivo.html) and learn more about the program by participating in a meeting with the program director."},{"titleItem":"Program Structure"},{"text":"Courses in the Doctoral Program in Business Economics at Insper are taught entirely in English and take place over three quarters throughout the year.
