Marcos Sawaya Jank

Senior Research Fellow | Ph.D. in Business Administration - USP

 Agricultural Engineer from Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture at the University of São Paulo (ESALQ - USP), with a Master’s Degree in France, a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at the University of São Paulo (FEA-USP), and an Associate Professorship from ESALQ.

Senior Professor and coordinator of the “Insper Global Agribusiness” center. With significant contributions to agri-food topics over 35 years of his career, he has accumulated multiple professional experiences in agribusiness.

For 18 years, he was an Associate Professor at the University of São Paulo — at ESALQ, FEA, and the Institute of International Relations (IRI). He was also an advisor to a minister and a trade expert at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in Washington DC.

He chaired the Brazilian Sugarcane Industry Association (UNICA) and the Institute for International Trade Negotiations (ICONE), in addition to serving as a director at BRF in Asia.

He lived abroad for 10 years, working on agribusiness topics in the USA (3 years), France (3 years), and Asia (4 years). He wrote books, published papers, and was a commentator in magazines, newspapers, and TV, as well as giving lectures in Brazil and abroad. Today, he also acts as a counsellor for agribusiness companies.
